To ensure that you are scheduled for the exam ordered by your healthcare provider and the correct authorization is obtained from your insurance carrier, your imaging order/script must be received before your appointment is booked.
Southwest Florida’s clear choice for expert care, quality service, and advanced technology in Cardiac MRI.
Cardiac MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the heart) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create highly detailed pictures of the heart and surrounding blood vessels. Unlike other imaging methods, Cardiac MRI does not use radiation and provides both structural and functional information about the heart in a single exam.
At Radiology Regional, we’re proud to offer Cardiac MRI on our advanced 3T MRI scanners, enhanced with Vista AI’s Cardiac software, allowing for faster scan times and even greater diagnostic accuracy. This means clearer images, shorter exam times, and more comfort for our patients.

Why Cardiac MRI?
Cardiac MRI is often recommended when your physician needs more detailed information about:
- Heart muscle damage after a heart attack
- Areas of reduced blood flow
- Inflammation or infection of the heart muscle
- Congenital (present at birth) heart conditions
- Problems with heart valves
- Tumors or masses in the heart
- Measuring heart function (ejection fraction and wall motion)
Because of its precision, Cardiac MRI is often used when other imaging tests (such as echocardiography or CT) cannot provide enough information.
What to Expect During the Exam
- Preparation: You will be asked to change into scrubs and remove any metal objects and jewelry.
- During the Exam: You will lie on a padded table that slides into the MRI scanner. The technologist may place small devices (called ECG leads) on your chest to monitor your heart rhythm. Sometimes, a contrast agent is injected into a vein to improve image clarity.
Comfort: The exam is painless but requires you to lie still. Most exams last between 30–60 minutes. Our 3T scanners and AI technology help shorten scan times. - Safety: MRI does not use radiation, let the scheduler know if you have any implants, devices, or metal in your body, a technologist may call you to collect detailed information about your implant for safety clearance.
