An ultrasound uses high frequency sound ways to assess pain or evaluate tissue within the body. Breast ultrasounds are often ordered when an abnormality is seen on a mammogram or during a physical exam of the breast.

Breast ultrasounds can help give our physicians a clearer picture of a mass, distortion, or unequal breast tissue that was spotted on a mammogram or breast MRI.

Ultrasound is also a helpful tool to guide physicians when a minimally invasive breast biopsy procedure is needed.
