ICAMRL-Logo

Accreditation by the IAC means that Radiology Regional Center, PA has undergone a thorough review of its operational and
technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing
quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case
study review.
IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued
on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of MRI. When scheduled for a MRI
procedure, patients are encouraged to inquire as to the accreditation status of the facility where their examination will be
performed and can learn more by visiting www.intersocietal.org/mri/main/patients.htm.
IAC accreditation is widely respected within the medical community, as illustrated by the support of the national medical
societies related to MRI, which include physicians, technologists and physicists. MRI accreditation is required by the Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and in some cases by private insurers. However, patients should remain vigilant in
making sure that their MRI procedures are performed within accredited facilities, because for some facilities it remains a
voluntary process.

ACR

ACR (American College of Radiology) accreditation is an efficient process of both self-assessment and independent external expert audit, based on ACR guidelines and technical standards.  Their standards assess the qualifications of personnel, policies and procedures, equipment specifications, QA activities, patient safety, and, ultimately, the quality of patient care.   Radiology Regional Center was granted accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR) at each of its nine locations.

ICAEL
Radiology Regional Center is pleased to announce that they have recently been granted accreditation from ICAEL (The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories).  They are the first imaging service in the area to have achieved this milestone, and the only imaging group to have earned accreditation in every specified area.

Echocardiography is a complex imaging technique that relies on the experience and training of both the physician and sonographer.  Their interpretive and technical abilities determine the accuracy of an echocardiograph examination.  Radiology Regional Center committed to this voluntary credentialing process to show their commitment to high quality patient care and its provision of quality diagnostic testing.  Accreditation status signifies that their facility has been reviewed by an independent agency, which recognizes the laboratory’s commitment to quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease.

ICANL

ICANL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories) has determined that Radiology Regional Center is one of the first nuclear and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) laboratories in the area to be so recognized for its commitment to high quality patient care and its provision of quality diagnostic testing.  It provides a peer review mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine diagnostic evaluations by a process of voluntary accreditation.  A non-profit organization, the ICANL is dedicated to ensuring quality patient care and to promoting health care.

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the American College of Radiology (ACR) recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College's voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

The breast imaging services at Radiology Regional Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

Radiology Regional Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast ultrasound as the result of a recent review (2012) by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
