Are you due for your Annual Mammogram?

Radiology Regional Center's Mobile Mammo coaches travel to businesses, health clinics, shopping plazas and other locations for on-site mammograms, providing an alternative way for women to complete their annual screening mammogram.

Our Mobile Mammo is fully accredited and professionally staffed; patients receive digital mammography screening with CAD (Computer Aided Detection) in a soothing, comfortable environment and a report from a board-certified, fellowship trained radiologist.

Who is eligible to utilize the breast-imaging services on the Mobile Mammo?

Most women age 40 and over, who have not had a mammogram in one full calendar year, are eligible; a physician order/prescription is not required. Women with breast implants are also eligible, patients with implants should inform the scheduler as these appointments can take longer.

If you are less than 40 years of age or have questions about breast symptoms, contact your physician. The Mobile Mammo does not perform diagnostic mammograms.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are recommended; walk-ins are accepted subject to availability. Call 239-936-4068 to schedule an appointment at a convenient, public location near you.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Bring your photo ID and your medical insurance card.

Patients also need to be established with a primary care physician or an OB/GYN and will be required to provide your physician name and address at the time of the appointment. If you are not established with physician, Radiology Regional Center can assist you in confirming an appointment as a new patient. You will also need to provide the name and address of the location where you had your last mammogram, if not performed by Radiology Regional Center.

On the day of your exam, patients are asked to wear a two-piece outfit if possible, this will allow you to wear a gown from the waist up. Do not use underarm deodorant, power or cream as these can interfere with test results.

Completing the forms in advance will help to expedite your appointment.

What if I had my last mammogram at a facility other than Radiology Regional Center?

If your last mammogram was completed outside of the area we request that you contact the provider and obtain your prior images to help facilitate comparison interpretation. A medical record release form is available to download here if it is required by the out-of-area area provider. Obtaining your prior mammography images is important because they provide essential breast history against current studies and our radiologist willuse them to compare the appearance of abnormalities and judge if changes in breast tissue patterns have occured.

It is not necessary to contact facilities in Lee and Collier counties that preformed your previous mammogram; Radiology Regional Center will obtain a copy of your local images and maintain a permanent digital record of your studies at our facility.

What should I expect at my appointment?

The appointment will take approximately 15-20 minutes. When you enter the Mobile Mammo coach you will be greeted by an event coordinator in the reception area. You will be asked to complete the registration packet forms (if you did not complete them in advance) and provide your photo ID and insurance card.

For your exam, you will proceed to a private dressing room adjacent to the mammography suite and a brief medical history will be taken; you will be given a gown and asked to undress from the waist up; you will also be asked to remove any deodorant lotions or creams. The technologist will take two routine views of each breast. Following the mammogram, you will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Who will interpret my exam? How will I get my results?

Local, board-certified radiologists from Radiology Regional Center read and interpret all the mammograms performed on the Mobile Mammo. Patients will receive their mammogram results via email through Radiology Regional Centers' on-line patient portal or by mail from Radiology Regional Center. You should follow all instructions documented in your result letter. Our staff may contact you if the radiologist recommends additional evaluation that may consist of additional imaging, and/or locating comparison images.

Your physician will receive a written report within 7 to 10 days of your exam date. If you are not established with a primary care or an OB/GYN physician, Radiology Regional Center can assist you in confirming an appointment as a new patient. Your report will be expedited if your prior mammography images are readily available.

How do I pay for my exam?

Radiology Regional Center is a contracted provider with most health insurance carriers and will file all claims with your insurance company directly. Most insurance providers cover screening mammograms for women age 40 and over as a wellness benefit. The exam frequency typically covered by a provider is one year plus one day from a patient's last exam.  A discounted fee of $159.00 is offered to self-pay patients. Cash, check, Visa, Master Card, and most major credit cards are accepted.
