Radiology Regional Center is proud to offer the services of our Certified Breast Patient Navigator. Angela Zauner, RN, BSN, BBA, CBPN-IC has previously worked in the hospital setting and is now utilizing her knowledge and skills to navigate patients through his/her breast imaging care. Angela reaches out to patients who have been recommended to undergo a breast biopsy. She also follows up with patients to ensure proper healing, minimize adverse effects/reactions and ensure they receive recommended follow up diagnostic care. Angela helps breast cancer patients transition from diagnosis to treatment.
Radiology Regional Center is dedicated to saving lives by ensuring all patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment and by eliminating barriers to care. The Nurse Navigator for Breast Imaging was created to help meet these goals.
Moving a patient through their continuum of breast care or breast cancer care is a complex and highly individualized process. Angela Zauner’s role is to significantly reduce this complexity and reduce the stress on the patient. Although most patients understand the importance of early detection and follow up care, sometimes barriers prevent individuals from following these guidelines. It is the Nurse Navigator who helps the patient work through, reduce, or eliminate barriers to her breast health.
Angela Zauner provides education to each patient and the local community. She informs individuals on the processes that take place at each stage in breast cancer care, as well as what to expect afterward. Patients are assisted in identifying resources available to them and they are empowered to become informed participants in their breast health/cancer care. The patient is the focus in each of the navigation stages. Angela provides a personalized service based on each patient’s needs, and ensures that all tests/images are scheduled in a timely manner.
